Every year at Jóźwicki&Partners, we organise a seasonal Holiday workshop. Its main purpose has thus far always been integration of employees in mixed teams. However, this year’s Holiday workshop was completely different for J&P. For one day, we all became volunteers for the elderly and each of us made a special Holiday gift. We prepared presents for 150 beneficiaries of the Poznań’s Little Brothers of the Poor Association. The organisation is all about helping through heartfelt gestures, and we second this thought!

“Little Brothers”, who have their origins in France, “put emphasis on the relationships built through accompanying the elderly and listening to them – this is the meaning of the motto, Flowers Before Bread.” The organisation focuses on creating bonds with elderly individuals and accompanying them in their everyday lives. This form of voluntary work is quite unusual. When you are a member of a Little Brothers organisation, you share your emotions and hear the emotions of others, because material aid is not everything, and there are other significant aspects indispensable for all of us. The noble founders ensure that the elderly under the organisation’s care feel they have someone near they can share their thoughts with. They make sure that the afternoon tea or coffee means having company and is not another empty hour, and that these people know there is a person simply thinking about them, that they are not alone in this world.

What was it that we could give them?

We presented them with some warm emotions by creating felt Christmas tree decorations, with which we sent heartfelt words of wisdom. So little, and yet so much. The beneficiaries of the organisation will know the decorations were handmade especially for them, that we devoted time and energy for them to receive this Holiday gift, and with it, the quotation in a Christmas envelope:

„There are many things from which I might have derived good, by which I have not profited. Christmas among the rest. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time—apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin—as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time.”

Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Our work together for this Holiday occasion was very fruitful. Below are several photos from our very own Santa’s workshop!
